About The Position

The Designer 2 will use computer-aided drafting software to develop layouts, drawings and designs that meet engineering specifications. This role involves assisting with the design and development of new products, reviewing requirements from Engineers to design and develop new components or redesign existing ones, and determining the feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities. The Designer 2 will also confer with Engineers to resolve problems, prepare detailed drawings and schematics, and provide support to manufacturing to ensure product fabrication and assembly align with design intent. The position requires reviewing engineering drawings, analyzing designs, and retrieving information to complete tasks.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years' work experience in an engineering environment.
  • Experience using SolidWorks, PTC Pro-Engineer (Creo), and/or AutoCAD software for mechanical design.
  • Experience using ERP software and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to comply with the company Drug and Alcohol Policy, including participation in Company random drug testing.
  • Employment is subject to background checks appropriate to the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Engineering.
  • Subsea experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the design and development of new products.
  • Reviews requirements or instructions from an Engineer to design and develop new components or redesign existing components to improve company products.
  • Works with an Engineer to determine the feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
  • Confers with Engineers to clarify or resolve problems and develops design for research and development purposes.
  • Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
  • Confers with research and other engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required.
  • Assists with the development of product design and functionality.
  • Provides support to manufacturing to ensure product is fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design.
  • Reviews engineering drawings, analyzes design and retrieves information to complete drawing, layout or design.
  • Uses detail drawing or engineering specifications to dimension, scale or line locate.
