About The Position

Wisconsin Public Service Corp, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is hiring a Designer 1 - Gas and Electric Utilities in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The position is represented by Local No. 420 IUOE. Its main focus is designing commercial and industrial gas and electric projects. The role may also perform any Designer 2 task and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Technical degree or equivalent in Electric Power Distribution or Gas Utility Construction and Service; a certificate program aligned with those fields; an associate degree or equivalent education in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent Armed Forces training; completion of a state indentured utility design apprenticeship; or, in lieu of these education options, at least 3 years of equivalent utility design experience in electric, gas, or communications facilities.
• At least 1 year of experience working with Microsoft products.
• At least 3 years of customer contact experience in utility, construction, industrial, or commercial work.
• At least 3 years of utility design experience in electric, gas, or communications facilities; or at least 3 years of utility distribution construction experience; or completion of a state indentured utility design apprenticeship.
• Valid driver's license.
• Pass the Technician Selection System (TECH), assessing use of numerical information in drawings, prints, and graphs to solve arithmetic problems; use of symbols and codes to locate objects on a map; comprehension of pictured mechanical principles; and ability to read and apply rules and make decisions based on written information.

Responsibilities

• Design electric single- and three-phase systems, services, and upgrades.
• Design electric single- and three-phase system improvements, company reconstructions, relocations, industrial parks, reconductoring, conversions, and road moves.
• Design subdivisions and single- and three-phase Dovop/Danger/Reject pole projects.
• Design governmental and private lighting, primary metering, and communications make-ready projects.
• Design gas systems, services, and upgrades, including renewals, relocations, reconstructions, system improvements, road moves, and industrial parks.
• Perform any Designer 2 task.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
