About The Position

Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is accepting applications for designated substitute positions for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a general posting for potential openings. Applicants will be screened for substitute orientation, and selections are based on the division's needs. Selected applicants will be notified by email to attend an orientation, which is typically held monthly. This position cannot exceed 150 days.

Requirements

• Substitute Teacher: Must have a high school diploma and be at least 18 years of age to substitute in elementary schools.
• Substitute Teacher: Must be at least 21 years of age to teach at the secondary level.
• Substitute Clerical Aide and Paraprofessionals: Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Assume the responsibilities of the regular employee when that employee is absent from work.
• Be assigned to a specific school where they can work up to 150 days.
• Be assigned to an unfilled position at their assigned school each day.
• Be available to work five (5) days a week on a regular basis.
