About The Position

The Design Verification Manager leads a geographically distributed verification team and develops and implements verification plans for mixed-signal integrated circuit blocks and systems. The role collaborates closely with system, digital, firmware, analog, and other cross-functional teams, and includes technical leadership, mentoring, supervision, reporting to engineering leadership and program management, and support for silicon validation, production test, and application engineering. The position is based in San Diego or San Jose, California, with a hybrid schedule that includes remote work on Fridays. Semtech Corporation supplies analog and mixed-signal semiconductors for consumer, enterprise computing, communications, and industrial equipment. The Sensing Product Group develops system-level sensing platform solutions, including low-power touch-interface solutions integrated with high-accuracy ADCs for portable consumer and industrial, telecommunications, and automotive applications.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of industry experience in integrated circuit design verification.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or informally managing engineers or projects.
  • Strong analytical, synthesis, and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth experience with digital integrated circuit verification for MCU-based hardware systems, including ARM, RISC-V, PIC, or STM32 systems with memories, custom digital micro-architecture, interfaces, dedicated hardware peripherals, external IPs, and analog peripherals.
  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog as a high-level verification language and in UVM implementation.
  • Experience with Verilog/VHDL, scripting languages such as Python and Perl, debugging, and leading EDA verification tools from Synopsys, Siemens, or Cadence.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership.
  • Independent, self-motivated, rigorous, innovative, and collaborative approach, with the ability to follow through.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of system-level aspects including signal processing, mixed-signal systems, digital hardware, embedded firmware, analog, modeling, test, and application.
  • Experience with standard hardware protocols such as I2C, I3C, SPI, and MIPI.
  • Experience with mixed-signal products, design, and analog/mixed-signal verification.
  • Experience with analog block behavioral modeling using SV RNM, Verilog, or VHDL.
  • Experience developing circuits for consumer and/or industrial, telecommunications, and automotive markets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically distributed team of verification engineers across multiple projects.
  • Manage team deliverables, quality, schedules, and resource allocation for concurrent projects.
  • Define and implement verification strategies and test plans for digital and mixed-signal integrated circuit designs at block and top levels.
  • Work with design teams to understand micro-architecture and specifications.
  • Direct detailed test plans, coverage models, and verification environments.
  • Drive functional, code, and assertion-based coverage closure.
  • Generate technical documentation and lead verification reviews.
  • Manage the design and implementation of complex SystemVerilog and UVM testbenches.
  • Lead block- and chip-level RTL, gate-level, and analog/mixed-signal verification.
  • Develop directed test cases, constrained-random verification environments, and reusable verification components.
  • Improve verification scalability and portability between projects through environment enhancements and tool automation.
  • Establish and manage continuous integration, regression testing, scoreboards, monitors, and checkers.
  • Report to engineering leadership and program management.
  • Track and report verification progress using quantitative metrics and coverage analysis.
  • Identify and mitigate verification risks early.
  • Interface with system, digital hardware, embedded firmware, analog, and cross-functional teams.
  • Drive adoption of advanced verification methodologies and best practices, and evaluate tools.
  • Provide technical support to silicon lab evaluation, test, product, and application engineers.
