About The Position

This is a second-level position where the primary responsibilities include using computer-aided design and drafting software (VectorWorks) to create designs from rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data in accordance with state and local building codes to facilitate the sale process. The role requires a mastery of HVAC system design as used by Pleasant Valley Homes and the ability to complete detailed and accurate pre-construction drawings with minimal errors. This includes individual detailed, dimensioned floor plan drawings with header sizing, HVAC system design in cooperation with third-party designers, layout of trusses, and full electrical prints. The technician will also produce braced wall, seismic zone, and high wind calculations in cooperation with third-party engineering firms, order state and HUD labels, and master applicable building codes (IRC, NEC, HUD/Mfg.). Additionally, the role involves completing first-stage production details, becoming familiar with state-approved systems manuals and/or HUD DAPIA manual, and developing experience with Cabinet Vision software.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • All qualifications of CAD Designer I.
  • A minimum of six (6) months experience as CAD Designer I, as well as an overall mastery of each of its job responsibilities.
  • Overall mastery and understanding of HVAC system design as used by Pleasant Valley Homes.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Mastery of applicable building codes (IRC, NEC, HUD/Mfg.).

  • Begin to complete first-stage production details (window bucks, miscellaneous .dwg’s, etc.).
  • Begin to develop experience with Cabinet Vision cabinet design software and cross-train on same.

Responsibilities

  • Using computer-aided design and drafting software (VectorWorks) to create designs from rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data in accordance with state and local building codes.
  • Completing individual detailed, dimensioned floor plan drawings, complete with header sizing featuring ultimate gravity and uplift calculations.
  • Completing HVAC system design in cooperation with third-party HVAC designers.
  • Utilizing basic roof truss profiles to accurately layout trusses necessary to achieve designs.
  • Completing full electrical prints, with completed circuits, electrical loading diagrams, etc.
  • Producing braced wall, seismic zone, and high wind calculations, as well as out-sourced structural calculations that require the stamp of a registered professional engineer, in cooperation with third-party engineering firms.
  • Ordering state and HUD labels, as required.
  • Completing first-stage production details (window bucks, miscellaneous .dwg’s, etc.).
  • Becoming familiar with modular state-approved systems manuals and/or HUD DAPIA manual.
  • Developing experience with Cabinet Vision cabinet design software and cross-training on same.
