About The Position

The Design Systems Engineer (DSE) is part of the Chief Engineering team, which serves as the fully accountable technical point of contact for transmission and driveline products across current production, new product development, and advanced projects. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the DSE is the primary interface between the Chief Engineering group and PRC and manages system integration, interfaces, and interactions among transmission and driveline components and subsystems. The role coordinates engineering, manufacturing, supplier, development, and validation activities; oversees design reviews, prototype build readiness, system-level risk and validation processes, and change management; and leads cost-reduction and value-optimization efforts. The DSE also tracks program lessons learned, validation status, cross-functional corrective-action initiatives, and resource issues.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related degree field.
  • At least 7 years of engineering experience in product development design and release.
  • At least 2 years of propulsion systems experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading collaborative and global teams.
  • Understanding of typical automotive manufacturing and quality processes.
  • Advanced English language skills (90% reading and writing).
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Excellent work ethic, organization skills, and communication skills.

  • Schedule hardware system design reviews across PRC and review DRE design proposals as required.
  • Organize reviews with the Virtual Analysis / CAE team and ensure the Virtual DVP / Scorecard is completed before prototype hardware orders.
  • Manage team reviews of transmission and driveline system and interface DFMEA / DRBFM to support transparency and cohesive design controls leading to robust DVP actions.
  • Manage Assembly (BOM) Part# Complexity Charts for Axle and Driveline Systems, with a clear definition of each assembly part number.
  • Manage the Build Readiness Team (BRT) for prototype orders and confirm prototype hardware orders and procurement meet program build milestones.
  • Coordinate BOM and experimental builds with ACE Leads.
  • Lead and coordinate build-readiness tasks, including build fixtures, test fixtures, and dyno support.
