About The Position

The Design Supervisor trains and develops the design team and drives sales for Floor & Decor. The role helps ensure customers have a positive sales experience by providing exceptional customer service through design services. The supervisor leads the design team, oversees customer design projects from inquiry through installation, and supports store leadership in achieving sales and other goals.

The position provides design guidance on tile, wood, stone, and accessories for residential and commercial projects. It also involves maintaining the Design Center and company visual standards, staying current with design trends, and using company design and communication applications. Limited travel, including car travel, may be required. The work environment frequently includes a warehouse and moving vehicles, with noise levels typically moderate to noisy.

Requirements

• Design education (BA or AA in Interior Design), or six years of interior design experience in lieu of design education, or a combination of education and experience totaling six years.
• Three to five years of leadership or management experience.
• Proficient in basic mathematical skills.
• Self-motivated and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge, including the Microsoft Office suite.
• Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a Senior Designer position, ADM role, or higher.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of hard surface flooring is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain lasting relationships with residential and professional customers.
• Hire, train, develop, and motivate the design team, including conducting performance evaluations.
• Greet store customers helpfully and support walk-in design needs.
• Maintain the master store design appointment calendar and schedule appointments for existing and potential customers.
• Develop clientele through networking, referrals, and leads generated within the store.
• Provide advice on tile, wood, stone, and accessories to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for residential and commercial projects.
• Design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions.
• Manage multiple customer projects simultaneously through all phases, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, follow-up, and clear communication.
• Use company communication tools and email consistently and proficiently.
• Collaborate and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry through installation and achieve sales and other goals.
• Support company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees.
• Maintain the Design Center and company visual standards.
• Engage with current and emerging design trends in the market.
• Understand and use design applications, including Salesforce, the proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, MyProject, James Martin, and HousPro.
• Participate in local professional affiliations such as ASID and NKBA.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
