About The Position

The Design Supervisor trains and develops the design team and drives sales for Floor & Decor. The role helps ensure customers have a positive sales experience by providing exceptional customer service through design services. The supervisor builds customer relationships, develops and manages a design team, and oversees customer design projects from inquiry through installation. The position also supports store initiatives and sales goals, maintains the Design Center and company visual standards, and stays current with design trends and professional affiliations.

The role involves limited travel, including car travel. The employee is frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles, with noise levels typically moderate to noisy. The position requires medium physical work, including exerting 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly. Hand and finger use is frequent; standing, walking, reaching, climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling are occasional.

Requirements

• Design education (BA or AA in Interior Design), six years of interior design experience in lieu of design education, or a combination of education and experience equal to six years.
• Three to five years of leadership or management experience.
• Knowledge of hard surface flooring preferred.
• Proficiency in basic mathematical skills.
• Self-motivated and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office.
• Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a Senior Designer position, ADM role, or higher.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of hard surface flooring.
• Participation in local professional affiliations such as ASID or NKBA.

Responsibilities

• Train, develop, and coach the design team; conduct performance evaluations.
• Drive sales and provide customers with a positive experience through exceptional design-service customer care.
• Build and maintain lasting relationships with residential and professional customers.
• Greet store customers helpfully and support walk-in design needs.
• Maintain the master store design appointment calendar and schedule appointments for existing and prospective customers.
• Develop clientele through networking, referrals, and leads generated within the store.
• Advise homeowners, interior designers, and builders on tile, wood, stone, and accessories for residential and commercial projects.
• Design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions.
• Manage multiple customer projects through all phases with accuracy, timeliness, follow-up, and clear communication.
• Use company communication tools and email consistently and proficiently.
• Collaborate and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation and achieve sales and other goals.
• Support company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees.
• Maintain the Design Center and company visual standards.
• Engage with current and emerging design trends in the market.
• Understand and use design applications, including Salesforce, the proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, MyProject, James Martin, and HousPro.
• Participate in local professional affiliations such as ASID and NKBA.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
