About The Position

Responsible for the design and development of vehicle body closures and related assemblies; own components from concept through production, ensuring all technical, cost, and timing targets are met; lead the design and development of body closures and closure assemblies, including doors, hoods, liftgates, and associated mechanisms; define and execute functional objectives to meet vehicle performance, quality, cost, mass, and timing targets; own exterior component development activities from concept through launch, ensuring manufacturability and production readiness; utilize Catia V5, Teamcenter, Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), BIW & closure system, concepts and feasibility, master-sections, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Serviceability (DFS), durability, crash & NVH targets, and supplier technical reviews and capability validations to perform duties; collaborate closely with cross-functional internal teams, external partners, and suppliers to meet all program requirements; ensure designs comply with applicable NHTSA and FMVSS regulations related to body closures; and support design reviews, issue resolution, and continuous improvement efforts throughout the development cycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree).
• Five (5) years in the position above, as an Application Engineer, as a Design Engineer, as a Manager – Product Engineering, as a Project Engineer, as a Sr. Engineer, as a System Engineer, or in a related occupation.
• One (1) year’s use of all the following: Catia V5, Teamcenter, Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), BIW & closure system, concepts and feasibility, master-sections, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Serviceability (DFS), durability, crash & NVH targets, and supplier technical reviews and capability validations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of body closures and closure assemblies, including doors, hoods, liftgates, and associated mechanisms.

• Own exterior component development activities from concept through launch, ensuring manufacturability and production readiness.
• Utilize Catia V5, Teamcenter, Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), BIW & closure system, concepts and feasibility, master-sections, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Serviceability (DFS), durability, crash & NVH targets, and supplier technical reviews and capability validations.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional internal teams, external partners, and suppliers to meet all program requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable NHTSA and FMVSS regulations related to body closures.
• Support design reviews, issue resolution, and continuous improvement efforts throughout the development cycle.
