About The Position

Cushing Terrell is seeking a Design Professional with 2–5 years of experience to join our integrated architecture and engineering team. This opportunity is ideal for emerging architectural professionals who are ready to move beyond redline production and take an active role in shaping both design vision and technical execution. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on dynamic, fast-paced retail projects for nationally recognized brands across the country, contributing to every stage of the design process while growing your technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and professional impact. Working alongside architects and engineers, you’ll help develop design concepts, translate ideas into buildable solutions, and gain hands-on experience across all phases of a project. We’re looking for someone who brings a high level of creativity, curiosity, and a drive to push ideas further. At Cushing Terrell, you’ll collaborate across disciplines and offices, take on meaningful responsibility early, and continue building both your design voice and technical expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or related field
  • Two years of experience with construction document preparation, architectural design or technical development work
  • Knowledge of construction materials, standards and building codes
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp and the use of these applications as a design tool is required
  • Effectively executes project documentation and design intent
  • Effectively manages multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Participates and collaborates in a project team setting
  • Works effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • Completes tasks with accuracy and with strong attention to detail
  • Works with integrity, trust and commitment, setting an example for others
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed is required
  • Effectively works on platforms, including programs such as Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office suite
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with retail projects is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the project team in the development of design documentation and construction documents for projects of various scopes and complexity.
  • Task delivery by fully completing tasks within the scheduled timeframe and budgeted hours for the project.
  • Ensuring documents are accurate and complete while employing firm standards and adhering to the client’s design intent.
  • Collaborating in all aspects of architectural design.
  • Assisting with the development of design and construction documentation in various project phases including plans, elevations, sections and details.
  • Utilizing Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and other applications to produce drawings, 3D renderings and technical details.
  • Seeking out and utilizing appropriate references to research and make decisions regarding technical detailing of building systems and application of building code requirements.
  • Interaction with other team members, consultants, contractors, and clients in coordinating the project design.
  • Opportunities to assist in site development, plan layout design, materials selection and construction cost estimates.
  • Perform some Project Architect work including consultant coordination and client interface throughout the project.
  • Participate in site surveys.
