About The Position

At RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, 185,000 great minds are united by purpose and inspired to make a difference solving the world’s most complex problems. With our three market leading businesses, world-class operations and investments in research and development, we offer capabilities and opportunity no one else can. Together, we push the boundaries of known science and find new ways to connect and protect our world. Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems and has been revolutionizing modern flight for over 100 years. Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense. Pratt & Whitney is seeking a highly skilled Model‑Based Tools Design Methods Engineer to accelerate and strengthen the company’s digital design ecosystem and support enterprise Model‑Based Definition, Manufacturing, and Inspection (MB‑DMI) deployment. This role focuses on maturing current digital tools to production‑readiness, supporting both development and production‑part MBD workflows, and ensuring that the digital toolchain meets Quality Management System (QMS) requirements. This individual will also provide help‑desk level technical support for deployed tools, coordinate change management, and drive standardization across Engineering and downstream consumers. The Model‑Based Tools team is central to the enterprise initiative to modernize and digitize core engineering processes to improve speed, consistency, and manufacturability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 8+ years of engineering experience, or a Master's degree in a related field and 5+ years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience with Model‑Based Enterprise, Model‑Based Definition, Model‑Based Manufacturing, and Model‑Based Inspection principles.
  • Experience with PLM, CAD, CAM, CAI, and MES systems (NX, Teamcenter, Teamcenter Manufacturing, Teamcenter Quality).
  • Experience maturing engineering software to meet QMS and operational requirements.
  • Hands‑on experience with neutral model formats (STEP, QIF, JT, etc.) and their consumption by downstream systems.
  • Experience supporting multi‑disciplinary engineering and manufacturing workflows.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter Manufacturing, Teamcenter Quality, Solumina/iBase‑t, SAP, or enterprise CAI platforms.
  • Experience in Agile development or tool deployment frameworks.
  • Experience providing support or help‑desk operations for engineering tools.

Responsibilities

  • Mature current model‑based engineering tools to production readiness and ensure they meet enterprise Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
  • Support help‑desk operations for current and future deployed model‑based tools, resolving user issues, debugging workflows, and coordinating defect resolution with vendors.
  • Work closely with the MB‑DMI Strategic Lead to develop and implement cross‑functional strategies for consumption of MBD data elements within native and derivative toolchains.
  • Perform validation and production‑readiness assessments of the model‑based tools ecosystem, ensuring tools support consistent digital product definition for Production parts.
  • Identify new requirements introduced by MB‑DMI deployment for Production hardware and drive updates to tools, standards, and methods.
  • Create, enforce, and maintain standardization across Engineering, ensuring common usage conventions, modeling practices, and consumption patterns for all supported tools.
  • Maintain and sustain tools already deployed for development‑part definition, ensuring compatibility and alignment as new capabilities and standards evolve.
  • Develop scalable software stack strategies and contribute to sustainment plans that ensure continuity and compatibility across upstream design and downstream consumption systems.
  • Evaluate and manage software enhancements (e.g., NX updates, PMI functionality), integrating new capabilities into enterprise tool roadmaps and deployment plans.
  • Perform consumption testing and data validation for MBD elements across PLM, CAD, CAM, CAI, and MES systems.
  • Collaborate with software vendors to guide development, debugging, enhancement prioritization, and long‑term tool evolution.
  • Work with Manufacturing, Operations, Supplier Quality, and Digital Technologies teams to understand their digital maturity and provide debugging, troubleshooting, and adoption support.
