About The Position

Voltera is seeking an experienced Design Manager to own a portfolio of purpose-built fleet charging hubs from site control through permit approval and handoff to Construction. The role leads each project through design, utility coordination, permitting, and procurement; directs A&E consultants and specialty vendors; owns cost and schedule; ensures designs meet customer standards; and develops construction packages for the team to build from. The role also supports Real Estate during due diligence, coordinates with Construction through handoff and ongoing engineering and permitting support, and applies lessons learned to improve and standardize workflows. The preferred candidate has 4–7 years of relevant experience, an electrical, civil, or architectural background and/or site development experience, hands-on utility coordination and municipal permitting experience, and the ability to review and provide substantive feedback on civil, electrical, and structural drawings. A bachelor's degree and experience with electrical infrastructure, EV charging, or customer design standards are preferred. The role is based preferably in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, including Arlington, Virginia, though other locations may be considered. Travel to sites and customer offices is expected roughly 25% of the time. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
