About The Position

The Design Manager will lead a team of designers and guide them throughout the execution of global toys, from concept through production, and ensuring performance, cost, quality, and schedule adherence. The Design Manager will work closely with large cross-functional teams (Product Development, Marketing, Brand Management, Quality, Brand Design, etc.) and evaluate individual design deliverables alongside team performance, delivering critical feedback when necessary. This role is 4 days per week in our Playa Vista office.

Requirements

Consumer products industry; toy package design preferred.
Advanced knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat.
A strong sense of design and good use of typography.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure milestones and integration are according to schedule and ensure all projects are delivered on-cost, on-spec, on-time.
Impart expert training and skills to team members in all aspects of the product cycle, including developing play patterns, key features, spec and model development and understanding of manufacturability.
Collaborate with Design Lead on product review meetings and create action plan for deliverables.
Create a cohesive and collaborative working environment.
Anticipate, analyze, resolve, and escalate issues related to project, schedule, or cross departmental challenges.
Drive productivity by implementing design for manufacturing/assembly up front.
Manage and track key deliverables and proactively resolve future issues to keep the product on track, on cost, and on specification.
Improve efficiency in the design process through continuous improvement.
Liaise with the Design Lead, Design Director and to deliver innovative results that support the brand strategy.
