About The Position

SGX, part of the Propelis Group, brings together more than 150 years of combined experience from SGS&Co and SGK, forming a powerhouse in packaging graphics, prepress, and print production. We offer a full suite of solutions, including artwork and file preparation, plate and cylinder production, and metal deco services, supported by advanced technology and a global footprint. The purpose of this role is to bring a print feasibility perspective to packaging design development and execution collaborating onsite with our client’s design management and agency teams. This role is required to be 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs) onsite at client’s offices in midtown NYC; Friday may be remote.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphics, Marketing, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience working with clients in an agency role
  • Experience in pre-press, packaging or other related industry preferred
  • Excellent listening and communication skills to ensure clarity across a broad team of stakeholders.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, sometimes pressured environment, with multiple stakeholders, complex workflows, and critical timing.
  • Natural curiosity to explore new routes, striving for innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Openness to feedback and ability to adjust working style to fit the needs of the client.
  • Exercise diplomacy and discretion, supporting effective collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and support brand design strategy
  • Bring a print technical perspective to the design development process
  • Consult on print feasibility during the design phase and initiate print feasibility calls with extended partners
  • Initiate process of color development (loose color pre-artwork) and color targets
  • Coordinate information sharing between Design Execution Manager and Design Manager related to design print logistics.
  • Keep the Design Manager informed on all relevant project-related activities.
  • Proactively follow up with the Design Manager on any production-related questions or suggestions for upcoming projects.
  • Execute against defined timing, understanding priorities and raising any concerns or issues along the process.
  • Confirm printer details referencing history, onsite knowledge, and Design Execution Manager
  • Oversee color target development to protect Design Intent, working with the design team to propose and conduct print-feasible comp exploratories.
  • Coordinate Color Target Reviews with the Design Manager for approval as needed.
  • Organize print feasibility meetings for all project types.
  • Attend Pre-Production Calls with Printers as needed.
  • Provide guidance to Artwork Providers and Design Execution Manager during adaptation development as needed.
  • Work with Artwork Provider on coordinating Print Trials and Press Runs, potentially attending should that be required.
  • With a basic appreciation of the roles of cross-functional partners, address key questions or challenges from a design feasibility perspective.
  • Offer suggestions, make recommendations, explore ideas and considerations with key stakeholders to push the work towards the best representation of the design intent.
  • Reflect on past projects, catalog learnings, and prevent future mistakes by seeking out process improvements and best practices.
