About The Position

Leidos National Security Sector is seeking a Design Fabrication Technician to join their team. This role will support the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command – Soldier Center (DEVCOM SC) by contributing to innovative projects that directly enhance soldier safety, readiness, and mission success. The technician will participate in the design, development, and fabrication of parachute and shelter components, create preliminary layouts, execute design details, and fabricate prototypes using knowledge of construction techniques, production methods, and materials. They will also be responsible for repairing and modifying airdrop and shelter equipment with fine seams and replacement parts that match original strength and quality, and assisting engineers and project managers by fabricating experimental/prototype parachutes, cargo delivery systems, shelters, tents, covers, and other soft-wall structures. The role involves working from work orders, blueprints, sketches, and verbal concepts, and consulting with design draftsmen and engineers.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability with industrial sewing machines
  • Associates Degree with 2+ years of relevant experience (Additional Experience, Training, and/or Certifications may substitute degree requirement)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabricate products efficiently
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Solid analytical and technical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of personal parachute systems and assembly (civilian or military)
  • Experience following technical manual procedures
  • Skills in CAD and/or SolidWorks
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem‑solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, development, and fabrication of parachute and shelter components.
