About The Position

Caterpillar's Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division is seeking a Design Engineering Specialist focusing on rotating electrics within the Medium Voltage Rotating Components team. This role is at the forefront of electrification, involving the concept, development, and design of rotating electrical components, primarily motors and generators, for various Caterpillar applications. The position offers opportunities to enhance simulation and analytical skills, and deepen expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering concepts related to medium voltage motors and generators. The specialist will be responsible for executing and coordinating design efforts, leading and collaborating with an experienced team of engineers in Caterpillar's electric drive applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or related discipline (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of the methodology and associated phases, activities and deliverables of product development life cycle in manufacturing organizations; ability to bring new or enhanced products to the marketplace.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of the design for manufacturing process and methodologies in evaluating.
  • Extensive experience and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design owner of products
  • Develop design concepts through a process of optimization
  • Strong collaboration with suppliers through potential Development Agreements
  • Quality leadership through PPAP and overall APQP rigor
  • Current Product Improvements through feedback from the field
  • Collaborate with machine businesses NPI & NTI product programs and their respected design groups
  • Supply chain ownership of materials and cost
  • Identify and work with other Caterpillar subject matter experts on aspects of the design
