About The Position

This role involves researching, developing, testing, and modifying prototypes and fan models according to customer order requirements. The Design Engineer will assist in the development of fan models and detail drawings, review product designs for compliance, and collaborate on test plans. Responsibilities also include designing electrical control panels, making recommendations for component selection, and assisting drafters with CAD tools. The engineer will capture design intent using various tools, troubleshoot engineering problems, research new technologies, and may perform service work and customer design support. The position requires adherence to TCF Core Values and may include other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent is required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including, Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction with a high level of accuracy.
  • A basic understanding of design tools such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of relevant design or test engineering experience, preferably in the air moving industry.
  • Knowledge of the design and manufacturing of sheet metal parts is highly preferred.
  • Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) certification preferred.
  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and modal analysis a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, test, and modify prototypes and fan models according to customer order requirements with guidance from others.
  • Assist in the development of models and detail drawings of fans.
  • Review product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Collaborate with others to help develop test plans.
  • Design electrical control panels and generate electrical diagrams with full Build of Material (BOM).
  • Make recommendations for the selection of fans, coils, heaters and other AMU components.
  • Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using computer aided design tools (CAD).
  • Capture design intent with spreadsheets, drawing markups, and computer aided design (CAD) tools as needed.
  • Assist in troubleshooting engineering design and test problems.
  • Research new technology to be used in the development of new products.
  • May perform service work and provide customer design support as required.
