About The Position

OnePay is a consumer fintech company that aims to improve the financial system by offering an all-in-one platform for banking, savings, credit cards, lending, investing, and crypto. They also partner with employers and gig platforms to provide embedded financial services. OnePay is backed by Walmart and Ribbit Capital and operates with a sense of urgency and a focus on high performance. The Experience Design team at OnePay is responsible for shaping how millions of users interact with their financial products, focusing on underserved populations. This is a small, senior team with diverse backgrounds from leading tech companies, emphasizing collaboration, high craft, and the use of AI in their workflow. The Design Engineer role is a key engineering position with design fluency, focused on defining the future of design-to-code at OnePay. The role involves directly generating production-ready components, aggressively utilizing AI coding tools, and moving beyond traditional spec-based handoffs. The successful candidate will not just execute but actively shape the future of design and engineering collaboration.

Requirements

Fluency in both Figma and code (React Native or React).
Active use of AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, v0, or similar) at production velocity.
Fluency in design tokens, component architecture, and how design systems map to code.
Experience shipping on cross-functional teams where design and engineering overlap.
Strong communication across both design and engineering disciplines.
A track record of operating in fluid environments and helping define how teams work.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with modern software engineering practices.
Experience with Node and TypeScript on the server, NestJS framework, microservice-oriented architecture, Kubernetes, and AWS.
Experience building and shipping product features for iOS, Android, and web platforms using React Native.
