About The Position

Aaru is a predictive intelligence company that uses AI agents to simulate human behavior and help organizations refine strategic positioning, understand audiences, validate concepts and messaging, optimize pricing, and deepen customer understanding. It is a small, mission-driven team that emphasizes ownership, trust, urgency, intellectual honesty, and meaningful impact. The Design Team designs, builds, and evolves experiences across Aaru’s surfaces. The Design Engineer works with Product and Brand Designers, Platform Engineers, and Product Managers to bring those experiences to life in code. This role is based in New York City and is in-person five days a week. Candidates are expected to live in the New York City metropolitan area or be open to relocation.

Requirements

Experience shipping products in close partnership with designers and software engineers.
Ability to read and write front-end code, with strong interaction and visual design judgment.
Ability to explain design and engineering tradeoffs to Product Managers.
Ability to thrive in ambiguous and novel technical domains.
Ability to ship quickly and know when to slow down for polish.
Clear written and verbal communication.
Courage to push back and humility to change your mind.
Located in the New York City metropolitan area or open to relocation; able to work in person in the office five days a week.

Experience building a design system for a platform or developer product.
Experience shipping 0→1 product surfaces in partnership with design, engineering, and product.

Responsibilities

Explore and refine product experiences in code with Product Designers.
Bring Aaru’s visual identity to life with Brand Designers.
Partner with Platform Engineers to ship polished, maintainable product experiences.
Shape solutions with Product Managers around user needs, priorities, and technical constraints.
Advance the shared design system so designers and engineers can ship better work, faster.
