About The Position

We are looking to fill a position for Engineering Floor Support within the Installation Design Department. This full‑time role requires strong communication skills, technical understanding, and the ability to work effectively on the production floor. The Engineering Floor Support role serves as the liaison between Engineering and Production, ensuring that designs, drawings, and technical requirements are properly understood, implemented, and maintained throughout the build process of custom trucks. This role is critical in helping production teams execute builds efficiently, within quoted labor hours, and at the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field; or equivalent technical experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively between Engineering and Production.
  • Ability to interpret 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and installation documentation.
  • Working understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems used in vehicle upfitting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a body‑builder or custom vehicle upfitting environment.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar 3D CAD tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with PLM systems and MRP/ERP‑based build documents.
  • Knowledge of welding processes, hydraulic circuits, and electrical installation best practices.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond quickly to production needs.
  • Basic understanding of load calculations, bolted joint design, and general engineering principles.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally and smaller items (1–2 pounds) frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary communication link between Engineering and Production to ensure design intent is understood and correctly executed.
  • Support production teams by interpreting engineering drawings, models, BOMs, and technical documentation.
  • Identify, escalate, and help resolve discrepancies between design documentation and real‑world build conditions.
  • Provide real‑time feedback to Design Team on manufacturability, build issues, and opportunities for design improvement.
  • Make required BOM updates and corrections based on production feedback, as‑built changes, or design clarifications, and communicate those changes back to Engineering for documentation control.
  • Document and communicate any as‑built changes, production‑driven modifications, or deviations from the original design.
  • Assist with conducting fit‑up checks, interference checks, and installation verifications on the production floor.
  • Work closely with production leads and supervisors to ensure builds remain on schedule and within labor expectations.
  • Participate in troubleshooting sessions for electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues impacting the build.
  • Train production personnel on proper interpretation of drawings, component orientation, and installation best practices when needed.
  • Support quality assurance by identifying defects, documenting root causes, and helping implement corrective actions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
