About The Position

Join WTMJ, Milwaukee's NBC affiliate owned by The E.W. Scripps Company, where you'll tell the stories that matter most to Southeast Wisconsin. As a Multimedia Journalist, you'll be part of an award-winning news operation. This position is based in nearby Waukesha, where you'll enjoy the charm of this historic city known for its walkable downtown, local festivals, and tree-lined streets. You'll have easy access to Lake Michigan's shores, professional sports, world-class dining, and endless recreational opportunities. Whether you're exploring the Fox River Trail, enjoying local craft breweries, or covering the diverse stories that define Waukesha.

Requirements

• BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
• Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred
• Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company-required insurance limits

Nice To Haves

• Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred
• Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment
• Edit video on Final Cut Pro editing systems, or similar equipment
• Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
• Proficient at posting content to various websites
• Self-motivated and able to work in a deadline-driven environment

Responsibilities

• Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and news tips to develop story ideas.
• Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research.
• Organize material and write stories according to editorial style and format standards.
• Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
• Edit or assist in editing videos for all multimedia platforms.
• Appear on TV in live or pre-recorded shows.
• Work cooperatively with photographers assigned to stories, if one is assigned.
• Assist news producer in preparing newscasts.
• Assist online staff in preparing for multimedia stories.
• Other duties as assigned.
