About The Position

Conversion is hiring a Design Engineer to join its product team and help build its agentic marketing automation platform. The role is intended for a product-focused engineer who can own products end to end, understand customer pain points, and scope, design, and build solutions. The engineer will work closely with customers through dedicated Slack channels to answer questions, fix bugs, and develop features based on customer needs.

The position emphasizes exceptional design craft and detail: shaping how the product looks, feels, and behaves, and making complex marketing-platform capabilities intuitive and elegant. The Design Engineer will take work from design exploration and interaction prototyping through to polished, production-ready React interfaces. This is an in-person role five days per week in San Francisco.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of industry experience shipping high-quality product experiences.
• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and CSS, with the ability to turn design ideas into polished, responsive, production-ready experiences.
• Ability to take ambiguous product requirements and independently explore and prototype thoughtful UX solutions.
• Strong design judgment and attention to detail.
• Product-focused approach and interest in working directly with customers.

Nice To Haves

• Experience at a Series A to C startup that scaled quickly.
• Enjoyment of experimenting with interaction patterns, prototyping ambitious ideas, and exploring novel UI paradigms.
• A strong track record of side projects, apps, or hackathons.
• A startup mindset and interest in early ownership in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the visual quality of Conversion’s product, including typography, spacing, interactions, animations, and interface details.
• Translate the complexity of a marketing platform into intuitive, elegant user experiences that make powerful features feel simple.
• Own the process from exploring design concepts and prototyping interactions to shipping polished, production-ready React interfaces.
• Work directly with customers to understand pain points and research, design, and build features to address them.
• Answer customer questions, fix bugs, and ship features through customer Slack channels.
• Own products end to end, including scoping, designing, and building them.
