About The Position

PCI is seeking an experienced Design Engineer for its PCI Dallas 114 operations based in Midlothian, Texas. The role is responsible for creating and coordinating Revit models and supporting BIM/VDC design and field workflows. The Design Engineer works with design and operations staff, BIM/VDC service providers, and clients to ensure project scopes, models, and deliverables meet project requirements and standards. The position includes modeling a range of architectural and specialty scopes to the required Level of Development, coordinating models with project documents and point cloud files, running clash detection, and preparing and organizing files for field use. The engineer also contributes to BIM compliance and quality checks, supports project-specific content and standards, participates in staff training, and provides design support such as processing install drawings, incorporating comments, and producing details and layout files. Site visits may be required. The annual salary range is $72,400–$97,000, plus a non-guaranteed annualized bonus program.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is preferred; a two-year technical degree or two years of relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
At least 4 years of BIM (Revit)/VDC modeling and coordination experience.
Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, and BIM 360 Design/Glue.
Portfolio demonstrating work in Revit and Revit Family Editor.
Experience with Bluebeam PDF Software.
Ability to understand design and document coordination.
Innovative and creative approach to improving processes, procedures, and construction techniques to increase efficiency and improve outcomes for the role, work scopes, and customers.
Ability to take responsibility for assigned project outcomes and results.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

Project management skills.

Nice To Haves

Construction experience.
Working knowledge of Dynamo, Revit API, SketchUp, and iConstruct.

Responsibilities

Attend project kick-off meetings with design and/or operations staff to confirm Level of Development, scope, project details, and contract requirements before modeling begins.
Create 3D models using Revit.
Participate in BIM coordination and design meetings.
Develop and model assigned scopes, including interior and exterior walls and framing, ceiling and soffit framing, acoustical ceilings, specialty panels, raised access floors, clean room walls and ceilings, Unistrut, no-fly zones, and other specialty scopes to the required Level of Development using Revit and Revit add-on programs.
Coordinate with point cloud files and ensure models are spatially coordinated.
Escalate issues and model or document inconsistencies to the BIM Coordinator and Design or Operations Team for review and action.
Ensure all model elements within PCI’s scope are fully coordinated.
Perform BIM compliance checks and quality-control model deliverables against project documents for discrepancies.
Use Navisworks Manage to run clash detection and identify potential issues, and use Navisworks to resolve PCI clashes.
Attend staff training to improve knowledge and expertise in standardized software.
Create and maintain project-specific content aligned with project instructions, guidelines, in-house standards, and BIM standards.
Engage with the Design and Operations Team to implement BIM/VDC best practices.
Coordinate with BIM/VDC service providers and clients.
Provide design support, including processing installation drawings, incorporating comments, and producing details and layout files.
Clean, prepare, and organize CAD/Navisworks files for field use.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Visit project sites and areas of importance as required.
