Synthetic is building a software product to handle the financial side of a software business, from contracts to billing to getting paid. The software companies they serve currently struggle with fragmented systems like QuickBooks and Stripe, held together by spreadsheets and manual workflows. Synthetic offers a rebuilt, integrated solution for contracts, accounting, billing, invoicing, and payments, with agents to automate busywork. This ensures accurate numbers as they own every system touching them. The company recently raised $10M from investors like Khosla Ventures and Tobi Lütke and is focused on building a successful company, operating in-person in their San Francisco office six days a week, with flexibility on hours. This role is for a Design Engineer to join a 7-person team and be responsible for the look and feel of Synthetic across all touchpoints. This is the second design hire, working alongside the first designer and reporting directly to the founder. The role encompasses brand, marketing, and product responsibilities. For brand, the engineer will help define and maintain consistency in Synthetic's visual and auditory identity. For marketing, they will design and build the website, landing pages, and launch materials with the growth marketer. For product, they will build and refine features using TypeScript on SvelteKit, collaborating with other engineers. The company emphasizes a fast-paced environment where shipped work reaches customers within days or hours.
