The Design Engineer is responsible for the functional design and modeling of HVAC system components. The Design Engineer supports the development of the HVAC system compliant with all technical/functional, reliability, durability, and performance requirements.

Requirements

  • A technical degree, such as an Associate's degree, or better is required.
  • 2-3 Years experience in CAD modelling and engineering drawing development.
  • Experience in SolidWorks is required.
  • Strong hands-on experience with business ERP systems in order to act as the department's SAP point person.
  • Good organizational skills – self-motivated, results-oriented.
  • Strong documentation & communication skills for presentations/reports/interfacing internally & with customers.
  • Experienced with problem solving and utilization of problem solving tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Bus, Automotive, or HVAC systems is preferred.
  • CATIA is preferred.
  • Experience in sheet metal design is preferred.
  • International communication experience is beneficial with global suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Handle Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) for product and applications-related changes.
  • Assist the applications team with design updates, particularly by providing drawing and 3D model support.
  • Collaborate with the applications engineering team and product development on projects, including managing small projects.
  • Serve as the engineering department's SAP resource and primary point person.
  • Create and modify mechanical drawings and 3D models on specific product applications.
  • Build tolerance stack-ups and optimize dimensioning.
  • Integrate system components through hands-on interaction with the product.
  • Develop mechatronic components to achieve all performance, durability, and reliability targets.
  • Originate and develop test plans to demonstrate reliability/performance of components and HVAC systems and determine the ability of the product to comply with customer requirements.
  • Contribute to project documentation such as BOM, DFMA, build concerns, and validation test reports.
  • Work with purchasing and suppliers to release designs for manufacturing.
  • Provide mechanical/electrical technical support to Manufacturing, SQA and Quality teams through the implementation of changes to equipment, tooling or methods/processes.
