About The Position

Performance Contracting Group (PCG) is seeking an experienced Design Engineer for its PCI Raleigh 531 operations based in Raleigh, NC. This individual will be responsible for attending project kick-off meetings, creating 3D models using Revit, participating in BIM coordination and design meetings, and developing various scopes of work. The role involves coordinating with point cloud files, ensuring spatial coordination of models, escalating issues to the BIM Coordinator and Design or Operations Team, and identifying/documenting inconsistencies. The Design Engineer will perform BIM compliance checks, QC models against project documents, utilize Navisworks Manage for clash detection and resolution, and attend staff training to enhance software expertise. Responsibilities also include creating and maintaining project-specific content, engaging with the Design and Operations Team to implement BIM/VDC best practices, coordinating with BIM/VDC service providers and clients, providing design support tasks, cleaning and organizing CAD/Navisworks files for field use, and undertaking special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (Construction Management, Construction Science, Architecture, Engineering Fields, etc.) preferred.
  • 2-year technical degree or 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 4+ years of BIM (Revit)/VDC modeling and coordination experience.
  • Must possess proficiency with software platforms, including Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, and BIM 360 Design/Glue.
  • Must present a portfolio demonstrating work in Revit and Revit Family Editor.
  • Experience with Bluebeam PDF Software.
  • Ability to understand design and document coordination.

  • Ability to take responsibility for the outcome and results of assigned projects.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cleanroom, non-structural metal framing, drywall, façade systems, and ceiling systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Dynamo, Revit API, SketchUp

Responsibilities

  • Attend the kick-off meeting with design and/or operations staff at the beginning of the project to ensure the Level of Development, scope, project details, and contract requirements are understood before modeling begins.
  • Create 3D models utilizing Revit.
  • Actively participate in BIM coordination and design meetings.
  • Develop and model scopes as requested, including, but not limited to, Interior and Exterior Walls, including framing, Ceiling and Soffit Framing, Acoustical Ceilings, Specialty Panels, Raised Access Floor, Clean Room Walls, Clean Room Ceilings, Unistrut, No Fly Zones, and other specialty scopes to the required Level of Development using Revit, and other Revit add-on programs.
  • Coordinate with point cloud files.
  • Ensure models produced are spatially coordinated.
  • Escalate any issues to the BIM Coordinator and Design or Operations Team.
  • Identify model and document inconsistencies, and bring them to the attention of the BIM Coordinator and Design/Operations Team to determine the appropriate action.
  • Ensure all model elements are fully coordinated within PCI’s scope.
  • Perform BIM compliance checks of deliverables.
  • QC model against project documents for discrepancies.
  • Utilize Navisworks Manage to run clash detection and identify potential issues.
  • Use Navisworks to resolve PCI clashes.
  • Attend staff training to enhance staff members’ knowledge and expertise of the standardized software.
  • Create and maintain project-specific content to ensure consistency with instructions, guidelines, in-house standards, and the project’s BIM standards.
  • Actively engage with the Design and Operations Team to implement best BIM/VDC practices.
  • Coordinate with BIM/VDC service providers and clients.
  • Provide & design support tasks including but not limited to: processing install drawings, incorporating comments, producing details and layout files.
  • Clean, prepare, and organize CAD/Navisworks files for field use.
  • Special projects as assigned.
