Design Engineer - Bridge
About The Position
This is an entry-level position for a Design Engineer in the Bridge Department. The role involves preparing design calculations, quantity calculations, cost estimates, and plans under oversight. The engineer will also coordinate with other internal departments, assist in assembling project documentation, meet deadlines, and proactively address any project issues. Maintaining confidentiality of client and company information is crucial. The position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (or the ability to obtain within 12 months) and Engineer Intern registration in Indiana (or the ability to obtain within 12 months).
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Engineer Intern in the State of Indiana, or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Able to work independently with instruction
- Possess strong communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills required to work in a “team” concept
- Able to work on multiple projects at once
- Working knowledge of the Indiana Design Manual, the INDOT Specifications Book and the INDOT Standard Drawings
- Proficient with a computer and Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, ACAD software and structural design software
- Able to work seated 9 or more hours per work day
- Able to work 40 or more hours per work week as needed
- Able to work outdoors traversing uneven or difficult terrain
- Able to travel throughout Indiana including overnight stays
- Possess a valid Indiana driver’s license.

Responsibilities
- Prepare various components of design calculations with oversight
- Prepare various components of quantity calculations with oversight
- Prepare various components of cost estimates with oversight
- Prepare various components of plans with oversight
- Work and coordinate with other internal departments
- Assist in assembling Supplements, Proposals, and Engineer’s Reports
- Meet deadlines
- Alert Project Team Leaders immediately upon realization of a problem on a project
- Maintain the confidentiality of information regarding our clients and company practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
