About The Position

Performance Contracting Group (PCG) is seeking an experienced Design Engineer for its PCI Albany 576 operations in Malta, New York. The role supports design and construction work by creating and coordinating Revit models, participating in BIM coordination, checking model and document quality, and providing design support to project teams. The Design Engineer collaborates with Design and Operations teams, BIM/VDC service providers, and clients, and may visit project sites and other important areas as required.

The position includes modeling a range of interior and exterior construction scopes to the required Level of Development, coordinating with point-cloud files, ensuring spatial coordination, identifying and escalating discrepancies, and checking deliverables for BIM compliance. The role also includes preparing project-specific content and files for project and field use, supporting best practices in BIM/VDC, and attending staff training. Other special projects may be assigned.

The role offers an annual salary range of $78,900 to $106,000, plus a non-guaranteed annualized bonus program. Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is preferred; a two-year technical degree or two years of relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
• At least four years of BIM (Revit)/VDC modeling and coordination experience.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, and BIM 360 Design/Glue.
• A portfolio demonstrating work in Revit and Revit Family Editor.
• Experience with Bluebeam PDF Software.
• Ability to understand design and document coordination.
• Innovative and creative approach to improving processes, procedures, construction techniques, and efficiency.
• Ability to take responsibility for assigned project outcomes and results.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivation, strong work ethic, and willingness to take initiative.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with cleanroom work, non-structural metal framing, drywall, façade systems, and ceiling systems.
• Working knowledge of Dynamo, Revit API, and SketchUp.

Responsibilities

• Attend project kick-off meetings with design and/or operations staff to confirm the Level of Development, scope, project details, and contract requirements before modeling begins.
• Create 3D models using Revit.
• Participate in BIM coordination and design meetings.
• Develop and model requested scopes to the required Level of Development, including interior and exterior walls and framing, ceiling and soffit framing, acoustical ceilings, specialty panels, raised access floors, cleanroom walls and ceilings, Unistrut, no-fly zones, and other specialty scopes.
• Coordinate with point-cloud files and ensure models are spatially coordinated.
• Escalate issues to the BIM Coordinator and Design or Operations Team.
• Identify model and document inconsistencies and bring them to the attention of the BIM Coordinator and Design/Operations Team for appropriate action.
• Ensure model elements within PCI’s scope are fully coordinated.
• Perform BIM compliance checks of deliverables and quality-check models against project documents for discrepancies.
• Use Navisworks Manage to run clash detection and identify potential issues, and use Navisworks to resolve PCI clashes.
• Attend staff training to enhance staff members’ knowledge and expertise of standardized software.
• Create and maintain project-specific content consistent with instructions, guidelines, in-house standards, and project BIM standards.
• Work with the Design and Operations Team to implement BIM/VDC best practices.
• Coordinate with BIM/VDC service providers and clients.
• Provide design support, including processing installation drawings, incorporating comments, and producing details and layout files.
• Clean, prepare, and organize CAD/Navisworks files for field use.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
• Visit project sites and other important areas as required.
