About The Position

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise. Requirements

  • BS / MS / PhD in a related scientific or engineering field.
  • 5+ years experience in mechanical design
  • Strong fundamentals and demonstrated understanding complex system design
  • Experience with stress and finite element analysis
  • Experience with Siemens NX and suite of tools
  • A systematic approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate complex, technical rationale to multidisciplinary stakeholders.
  • Extremely self-motivated with the ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience writing comprehensive technical reports and documents.
  • Proficiency in PDM and PLM environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Turbogenerator design
  • Experience with computational fluid dynamics and analysis
  • Prior experience with hybrid-electric aircraft, eVTOLs, or hybrid automotive powertrains.
  • Familiarity with FAA or EASA certification
  • Knowledge of simulation model validation, model calibration, and uncertainty quantification methods.

Responsibilities

  • Create models of parts and large-scale assemblies for the design and integration of a novel Turbogenerator using Siemens NX
  • Develop master geometry and skeleton models
  • Design for manufacture and assembly
  • Generate detailed 2D drawings for manufacture
  • Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Manage design lifecycle, including interfacing with manufacturing and test teams
  • Maintain bill of materials, test profiles, design guides
  • Attend and present your designs to stakeholders
  • Interface with supply chain, quality, manufacturing, and stress / FEA engineers
