About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Design Drafter. This role will take place at our growing facility in Hodges, SC. We are able to offer relocation assistance for qualified candidates within the United States. The Design Drafter role is a unique opportunity to develop best-in-class products and features through product research, design, design validation, deployment, and maintenance in accordance with market needs. This role is also responsible for providing technical expertise on busway products. The Design Drafter will be essential in annual engineering growth projects. Working with Lead Design Engineers and other members of the Engineering team, the design drafter will provide necessary expertise in detail design of Eaton’s Low Voltage Busway Products and Accessories.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering, Drafting, or related from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in design and manufacturing processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Product Life-cycle management systems and their structure.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with 3D CAD tools (inventor).
  • Knowledge of Drafting standards (ASME Y14 Series).
  • Knowledge Design for Six Sigma.
  • Validation testing experience.
  • Familiarity with simulation analysis.
  • Prior experience in engineering.
  • Fabrication methods for sheet metal, plastic, copper, and aluminum.
  • UL 857, IEEE C37.23, UL 98, UL 489 knowledge
  • Working knowledge of regulatory standards for the US that cover low voltage distribution equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical communications: datasheets, interface control documents, test plans, etc.
  • Design, model, and test product prototypes. Maintain and improve existing products.
  • Work on cross-functional teams using the Eaton PROLaunch product development process. Integrate best practices from each functional team to deliver a high quality, best-in-class design.
  • Apply knowledge of industry and certification standards to ensure proper product compliance (UL, NEC, CSA, NEMA, IEEE, CANENA).
  • Represent the product line as a technical consultant.
  • Design technology upgrades and cost reduction opportunities to keep the product line in a competitive position.
  • Communication of new designs and products with the product line and monitoring of standards.
  • Provide guidance to manufacturing engineers during development of products and during upgrade of existing products. Provide directions to production employees on technical issues. Maintain drawings, product structure, and design standards.
  • Work with manufacturing disciplines to design processes as well as products which meet market and customer needs.
