About The Position

The Design Center Operator is part of the Design Department and is responsible for developing formulations of printing inks and coatings for the proofing press, meeting the requirements of Automotive and LivTec design under specific quality, cost-effectiveness, and deadline frameworks. This role also serves as Plant Support for the Winchester, VA site.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a Color Test.
  • Must have very good color perception.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing industrial environment.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.
  • The use of a respirator may be required for specific job departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Background in Machine Operator with plastics processing experience (e.g., in production Continental SSL).
  • Printing machinery experience.
  • ColorMatcher/Colorist experience.
  • Other equivalent desirable experience within plastics manufacturing.
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge in plastic dyeing.
  • Experience in repeat printing.
  • Sound knowledge of surfaces (color, colorimetry, grain, gloss).
  • Ability to work with colorimetric measuring systems as well as all equipment and machines in the color laboratory and in production.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate printing inks and varnishes for the proofing machine.
  • Operate the proofing machine, including assembly and conversion of process units (e.g., roller change).
  • Produce samples from raw material provision to dispatch of finished and semi-finished goods.
  • Implement and monitor measures to ensure product quality of samples and test sets on the proofing machine.
  • Plan and coordinate tests and production orders, including data processing.
  • Document tests and production orders.
  • Communicate daily tasks and instructions effectively as a team member.
  • Provide Plant Support for Winchester, VA, and support Global Designers in producing test and plant tools at the Winchester, VA site.
  • Participate in production tests.
  • Evaluate color, grain, and gloss.
  • Perform color acceptance of laboratory samples in the color laboratory.
  • Support the production of base in the technical center.
  • Maintain quality specifications within the production line.
  • Input manufacturing data.
  • View SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Maintain operation of various equipment and machinery.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by following good housekeeping practices.
  • Ensure safety awareness in daily work.
  • Accurately meet production schedules.
  • Verify materials when needed.
  • Troubleshoot and report issues when they arise.
  • Maintain good attendance, be organized, able to multi-task, and be a team player.
