The company functions in a decentralized environment where each location, called a Profit Center (PC), is managed as a small business. The Kohler Store in San Ramon, CA, is seeking a Design & Sales Consultant to join their Showroom team. This role involves providing expert product selection and design services to showroom customers, both in-person and at their locations, with the goal of meeting or exceeding sales and gross profit goals. The consultant will also be responsible for customer hospitality, in-home design consultations, articulating the showroom's value proposition, determining customer needs, building long-term customer relationships, maintaining product knowledge, leveraging technology for selections and availability checks, using sales reports and forecasting tools, following up on leads, generating new business, processing sales orders and returns, maintaining the showroom's appearance, participating in industry associations, and completing required training.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in plumbing design and sales.
  • Knowledge of products sold in the showroom preferred
  • Experience working with luxury, high end products and customers.
  • Knowledgeable of kitchen and bath design trends.
  • Experience with architectural blueprints and have a strong sense of aesthetics.
  • Effectively use Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word) to communicate via email, to maintain customer contact files and appointment calendars, and to create and analyze reports.
  • Outstanding customer service and verbal/telephone communications skills.
  • Deep product knowledge related to kitchen/bath trends to be able to answer customer questions and identify opportunities to upsell or cross sell.
  • Able to overcome objections by understanding customer needs, providing targeted solutions, and closing the sale.
  • Able to build influential relationships and trust with key vendor partners.
  • Able to build positive working relationships and inspire teamwork with co-workers.
  • Able to plan, organize, and multi-task.
  • Able to learn and operate the computer related systems used to process orders.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert product selection assistance and design services to our showroom customers both in the showroom and at the customer’s location.
  • Ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction in order to meet or exceed the established sales and gross profit goals, and to increase profit sharing.
  • Provide hospitality and warmly welcome each customer.
  • Sell and provide in-store and/or in-home design consultations for kitchen and bathrooms.
  • Articulate your showroom value proposition to get your customer’s attention, engage them, teach them, and show them the value you provide.
  • Determine customer needs, direct them to the best products to address their needs, discover potential hurdles, and keep the sale moving forward.
  • Build and maintain long-term customer relationships, creating referrals and repeat business.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of product lines and features.
  • Leverage Hajoca technology to guide product selections, review product specifications, pricing, and availability.
  • Use sales reports and sales forecasting tools to meet or exceed established sales targets.
  • Follow-up on leads and generate new business.
  • Enter sales orders and bids, expedite purchases, stay engaged with customers from the beginning to the end of projects.
  • Process showroom sale returns and refund paperwork in accordance with Company policy and procedure.
  • Keep showroom clean, neat, current, stocked, and safely displayed.
  • Join industry associations and attend professional events to stay informed about design trends, new products, and to build business relationships.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
