About The Position

The City of Watertown is looking for a Deputy Treasurer/Clerk to support the Finance Office. This role involves preparing journal entries, reconciling bank transactions, supporting elections, assisting with budget development, and tax bill preparation. Under the general supervision of the Finance Director, and in accordance with all laws and statutes of the State of Wisconsin and the policies of the City of Watertown, this position performs a wide range of clerical and administrative support functions for the Finance Department. The Deputy Treasurer/Clerk may perform the work of the Finance Director or City Clerk as delegated in their absence. This supporting position is responsible for assisting in the organization, direction, and coordination of all activities of the Finance Department, including processing subsidiary ledger accounting tasks, general ledger financial reconciliation, tax billing and collecting, audit preparation, issuing municipal licenses, and election preparation. Unless assigned temporarily, there are no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • College degree in finance, accounting, public administration, business management, or a related field OR minimum of five years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or other financial-based clerical duties
