About The Position

The Utah County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Utah County and is dedicated to preserving public safety and maintaining peace within the community. Deputies perform a wide range of law enforcement duties, including patrol operations, criminal investigations, court security, emergency services, and oversight of the Utah County Correctional Facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Currently enrolled in a POST-approved Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) course and able to obtain certification within twelve (12) months, OR possess current Utah POST Law Enforcement Officer certification (for Deputy Sheriff I)
  • One (1) year of experience as a certified Law Enforcement Officer (for Deputy Sheriff II)
  • Current Utah POST Law Enforcement Officer certification required (for Deputy Sheriff II)
  • One (1) year of experience as a certified Law Enforcement Officer and/or Corrections Officer (for Internal Applicants)
  • Must possess current Utah POST Law Enforcement Officer or Corrections Officer certification (for Internal Applicants)
  • Applicants selected with Corrections certification must obtain Law Enforcement certification within twelve (12) months of promotion (for Internal Applicants)
  • Employees reassigned or transferred into this classification must already possess Law Enforcement certification (for Internal Applicants)
