About The Position

This position is for a Lateral Patrol Deputy with the Sheriff's Office. The role involves protecting life and property, preventing crimes, and apprehending criminals. Duties include responding to calls for service, completing paperwork, testifying in court, resolving conflicts, undergoing required training, and communicating effectively with the public and other law enforcement professionals. The Deputy will enforce Federal, State, and Local laws, patrol assigned areas, investigate crimes, and arrest violators. Responsibilities also include conducting preliminary crime scene investigations, administering first aid, gathering evidence, establishing traffic control, serving civil papers and subpoenas, participating in annual driving certifications and various training sessions (range qualification, PPCT, Taser, OC re-certification), performing duties at public events, and reporting on public facility deficiencies. The position requires adherence to policy, procedures, and post orders. Employees are subject to a mandatory shift rotation every four months, working 10-hour shifts across day, swing, and graveyard shifts.

Requirements

  • Must currently be COLORADO P.O.S.T. Certified.
  • Must have at least 2 years of patrol experience.
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Possess a valid Colorado Drivers' License.
  • Complete the written exam through the National Testing Network with a minimum score of 70% in each section (Video, Written, and Reading).
  • Pass an Oral Board Interview.
  • Pass a Physical Fitness Test Battery.
  • Pass a Psychological evaluation.
  • Pass a Physical Exam.
  • Pass a Medical Exam.
  • Pass an Integrity Interview.
  • Pass a CVSA exam (truth verification).

  • Establish traffic control and Deputy protection at incidents that may attract crowds.
  • Serve civil papers, court documents, and subpoenas.
  • Participate and complete annual law enforcement driving certification.
  • Participate in training (Quarterly Range Qualification, PPCT, Taser, OC Re-Certification).
  • Perform Deputy duties at parades, processions, demonstrations, community activities, and sporting events.
  • Check and report on deficient streetlights, signs, road surfaces and other facilities that serve the public.
  • Perform other duties that are assigned.
