About The Position

This role focuses on the commodity of TRIMS-Interior & Exterior, requiring expertise in tooling feasibility, CAD evaluation, and the entire tooling development cycle, including manufacturing processes like Machining, EDM, and Texturing. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of injection molding tool design and construction, with practical experience in evaluating tool designs, reviewing mold flow analysis, optimizing tooling, and assessing gate systems, cooling systems, venting, and ejection systems. Responsibilities include assessing mold trials (T0, T1, T2) and recommending corrective actions, as well as understanding tooling maintenance, including preventive and breakdown maintenance, and conducting tooling reviews for refurbishments. A thorough understanding of interior and exterior trim parts and their manufacturing processes (Injection Moulding, Blow Moulding, Roto Moulding, Compression Moulding, Vacuum forming, IMD) is essential. The role involves troubleshooting defects in trim parts, driving improvements at supplier sites, and participating in the resolution of concerns reported from assembly lines and field issues through root cause analysis, action planning, and system closure (SCAP, 8D monitoring). Systemic problem-solving methodologies and horizontal deployment are key for chronic concern resolution. The position also involves ensuring lessons learned are applied to new product development, participating in new product development, driving improvements through early involvement, and completing PPAP. Re-PPAP and PSW for critical carryover parts in new projects are also part of the duties. The role requires planning and conducting supplier process and product audits, as well as concern-based/special process audits. Monitoring and improving supplier performance, managing non-performing suppliers, and organizing quality reviews are crucial. This includes supplier dealings, communications, and regular interactions for continuous improvement and process upgrades, as well as sustaining and driving improvements through audits and NC closures. Enhancing vendor technical capabilities through system and knowledge upgrades is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • BE/B Tech Mechanical/Polymer technology/CIPET/ NTTF
  • BE - 3 ~ 6 Yrs General Experience
  • Injection moulding tooling construction & troubleshooting know how. Mould flow analysis & tooling optimization, Cooling, Gating, Ejection, Venting system review and correction. Tool try-out and corrective actions.
  • Thorough Knowledge of Interior & Exterior TRIM Parts like - Instrument Panel assy, Cockpit, Door Trims, Floor Console, Pillar trims, Bumpers, Claddings, Roof Rails, Outer/inner patches, Decorative bezels, Inner & outer Rear View mirrors, Door handles, Seat/restraint & safety systems, Carpets & Roof liners, etc.
  • Trims Manufacturing Process- Injection Moulding, Blow Moulding, Roto Moulding, Compression Moulding, Vacuum forming, IMD (In Mold Decoration), Painting, Soft trims, CMF, Fabrication & plastic welding, etc.
  • Process development, process & product audits.
  • Quality concerns resolutions through systemic approach/problem solving tools.
  • Thorough knowledge on APQP/PPAP, DCP, SPC, SCAP, 8D, GD&T, FTG, etc.
  • Basic & advance problem solving tools & techniques.
  • Good communication skills for supplier dealings & regular interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of Tooling Feasibility, CAD evaluation, Tooling Development Cycle with detail knowledge of Tool manufacturing Processes - Machining, EDM, Texturing
  • Thorough knowledge on Injection Moulding tool design and construction. Hands-on experience with tool design evaluation, Mould Flow Analysis review and tooling optimization, review Gate systems, Cooling system, Venting and Ejection System etc.
  • Assess mould trials (T0,T1,T2..) and recommend corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of Tooling Maintenance actions - Preventive & Breakdown, Tooling Reviews and Recommendations for refurbishments
  • Thorough knowledge of commodity parts- Interior, Exterior parts & its manufacturing process like Injection Moulding, Blow Moulding, Roto Moulding, Compression Moulding, Vacuum forming, IMD(In Mould Decoration) etc.
  • Trouble shooting of Trims parts defects and independently drive actions & process improvements at supplier end.
  • Participation, Co-ordination & resolution of concern reported from assembly line, Field, User plant for Trims Interior & Exterior critical part through root cause analysis, action planning, implementation effectiveness & system closure SCAP, 8D monitoring.
  • Chronic concern resolution through systemic problem solving methodology and horizontal deployment.
  • Ensure that the lessons learned from product families are implemented for new product development as input for prevention of repeated known issues
  • Involvement in new product development, identifying and driving improvements through early involvement in product development Process and completion of PPAP
  • Re-PPAP & PSW for identified critical carryover parts in new Project
  • Plan and Conduct Supplier process & Product audits, Concern based/Special Process audits as per requirement
  • Supplier Performance monitoring, evaluation & drive performance improvement through systemic approach.
  • Monitor & improve non-performing suppliers and organize periodic Quality reviews as per escalation matrix
  • Supplier dealings, communications & regular interactions for continual improvements & process upgradations.
  • Sustenance & drive continual improvements through Product & Process audits at suppliers & NC closures.
  • Enhance technical capabilities of vendor through systems and knowledge upgradations.
