El Paso County Public Health is seeking an experienced executive leader to help guide the agency from a period of transition and stabilization toward greater operational maturity, organizational resilience, and long-term sustainability. The Deputy Executive Director will serve as a trusted executive partner with significant responsibility for organizational performance, leadership accountability, operational execution, and enterprise-level decision-making. This role requires a leader who identifies risks and emerging issues early, addresses difficult matters directly, navigates complexity with sound judgment, and translates executive strategy into coordinated action across programs and divisions. The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience leading other leaders, managing complex personnel and operational matters, strengthening organizational systems, and making consequential decisions when information is incomplete or stakeholder interests conflict. They must be able to exercise substantial independent judgment while recognizing when consultation, alignment, or escalation is necessary. This opportunity is ideal for a composed, analytically strong, and action-oriented executive who can build trust without avoiding accountability, work effectively with boards and elected officials, and help leaders and teams deliver sustainable results in a complex public health environment.
