About The Position

This position is responsible for defending civil actions and supervising a staff of attorneys. The role involves developing case strategies, providing direction to a group of attorneys, managing outside counsel, establishing operating policies, and providing management coaching and guidance. The Deputy Division Chief will also build relationships within the Department of Law and with City of Atlanta departments, and develop and manage the organizational budget. The position plans for the long-term talent needs of the Litigation Division and identifies, coaches, and mentors employees. Exceptional legal writing skills are required, as is the ability to deliver presentations to various internal audiences regarding cases, litigation trends, and to make recommendations on case strategy and other complex litigation matters. Additionally, the Deputy Division Chief establishes organizational strategy and policy within required legislative or executive limitations and modifies the organization of the Litigation Division to achieve objectives.
