This position, which reports directly to the Administrator of the Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS), in the Department of Human Services (DHS), is responsible for the leadership, direction, oversight and overall administration of the Division's statewide juvenile justice programming. This includes the Youth Parole Bureau, three residential juvenile justice facilities (Summit View Youth Center, Caliente Youth Center, and Nevada Youth Training Center) and the Juvenile Justice Programs Office. The Youth Parole Bureau provides supervision and case management services to delinquent youth committed to DCFS. The facilities confine youth who require a more structured, intensive intervention, in a secure setting in order to receive treatment and rehabilitative services. The Juvenile Justice Programs Office provides oversight of all juvenile justice services, including policy development, implementation, and oversight; PREA oversight; data collection, management, and oversight; and legislative monitoring, implementation and compliance. Together these services use treatment, education, and skill-building to address the root causes of delinquent behavior, including trauma, family instability, substance use, mental health needs, and educational gaps, to rehabilitate youth and protect public safety.
