About The Position

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Public Buildings Division, Architecture Unit seeks a Deputy Director. The selected candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of senior architects who are dedicated to project scoping, review of projects designed by consultants, In-House Design efforts, and general technical support for the agency. Other key responsibilities include development of the unit’s policies and procedures, project tracking, preparation of performance evaluations, and other administrative tasks as needed. In addition, the candidate will assist the Associate Commissioner and Director in developing the Unit’s strategic planning and attending high-level project meetings with client sponsors, Commissioners, and oversight Agency heads when required. Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position. NYC Department of Design and Construction does not provide sponsorship for international employees. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that they meet all qualifying requirements for this position, at the time of application.

Requirements

  • Permanent in the Administrative Architect title or reachable on the DDC promotional list (exam #6501), or the open-competitive list (exam #6001)
  • A valid New York State Registration as an Architect is required
  • Six (6) years of full-time paid experience in architectural work
  • At least two (2) years of which shall have been as an administrative architect
  • Authorization to work in the United States
