Requirements

  • Minimum of five years litigation experience, including experience as lead counsel, in federal and state court.
  • Proven ability to positively motivate a wide range of employees to a high level of performance.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to work with various sections/entities simultaneously, while maintaining the ability to quickly and properly analyze procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Position requires regular communication with various stakeholders regarding relevant information necessary for determining the appropriate action.
  • Strong sense of ethics; awareness of potential conflicts of interest that arise in public sector; adherence in all respects to Rules of Professional Conduct and State ethics rules.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana.

Responsibilities

  • Review and address personnel issues in coordination with the Director and Human Resources.
  • Review and approve attorney leave requests, work schedules, time sheets, travel authorizations and contract requests as appropriate.
  • Review processes in place to ensure that matters/cases are being moved along efficiently and effectively.
  • Establish goals and metrics to confirm that there is compliance with the process and that the process is effective.
  • Monitor and manage to ensure that the processes are optimally effective.
  • Assist with training programs for paralegals and DAGs.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and development of staff in conjunction with the other DD, Director, and OAG Training Manager.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with his/her direct reports, monitor and review systems in place, provide input and working with the Director to improve processes when applicable.
  • Assist in coordinating the Office’s consumer protection enforcement efforts with efforts of other State Attorneys General Offices and with other state and federal regulators.
  • Perform other legal and administrative duties as assigned at the direction of the Director, General Counsel or Attorney General.
