About The Position

The Auburn Municipal Court is looking for a Deputy Court Administrator to join their team. This role offers a unique opportunity to assist the Judges and Court Administrator in developing court structure and operations for the reopening of Auburn Municipal Court. The position provides a chance for professional growth, problem-solving, meaningful public service, and stability for court users and stakeholders. The City of Auburn is conducting this recruitment to establish a qualified hiring pool in anticipation of City Council approval of funding for this position. Candidates may participate in the recruitment process before final budget approval, but no appointment will be made until the position and funding are approved. The resulting pool may be used to fill this and similar vacancies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Court Administration, or closely related field AND Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal court operations, judicial administration, legal support services, or related governmental environment, AND A minimum of two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience.
  • OR a combination of relevant education and experience which would demonstrate that the individual’s knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the duties listed above.
  • Knowledge of the WA state judicial system.
  • Technological knowledge in Word, Excel, Windows, and the internet.
  • Ability to analyze documents such as policies, procedures, law and financial audits.
  • Ability to direct and educate staff.
  • Must be fingerprinted and complete the CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) Security Certification Test.
  • Incumbent must attend and complete the Court Administrator Academy as outlined by ARLJ 14 within one (1) year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a Washington State municipal court environment including knowledge of court rules, case management systems, probation services, records management, financial processes, and criminal justice agency coordination is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Court Administrator and Judges in the development, administration, and operation of the court.
  • Oversee daily operations of the criminal clerk division.
  • Support the lead Court Clerk and Civil Clerk division with daily operations as necessary.
  • Be responsible for court financial operations including end-of-day/month; accounts payable and bond audits.
  • Assist in the recruitment process for court positions.
