Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school
  • Admitted to the Montana State Bar
  • Knowledgeable in Criminal Law
  • Knowledgeable in Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedure
  • Knowledgeable in Rules of Evidence
  • Knowledgeable in the principles of trial advocacy and applicable law and court procedures and applicable rules
  • Proficient with computers
  • Proficient with on-line legal research
  • Able to learn and navigate proprietary software programs

  • Prior prosecutorial experience
  • Prior criminal defense experience

Responsibilities

  • Prosecute criminal and juvenile offenders
  • Represent the state in child abuse and neglect cases
