This position is responsible for providing in and out of court support for Superior & State Civil and Criminal proceedings for the three highest-level courts of Muscogee County. It coordinates case intake activities, oversees the processing of all superior court criminal court cases, including the filing of court documents, issuance of required documents, and accurate recording of all relevant case information and history. The role reviews, evaluates, and accepts or rejects submission of court cases and documents based upon legal sufficiency, ensures all required preliminary steps have been taken, and monitors processing for timeliness and compliance with laws. The Deputy Clerk prepares case files for court proceedings and coordinates all court case-related activities with a wide range of agencies and individuals. The position also attends various court hearings, arraignments, probation revocations, and civil and criminal verdicts, coordinating courtroom activities. Additionally, the role strikes civil and criminal juries, records verdicts and judicial directives, receives and corrects lower court documents, and researches and responds to inquiries regarding court policies, procedures, case status, and fines. It reviews legal documents to determine readiness for hearings and trials, prepares court orders, and performs other assigned duties.
