About The Position

Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work assisting with the processing legal documents, issuing service of process, indexing records and documents, managing financial accounts, maintaining records and files, assisting the public, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Clerk of Court or Chief Clerk.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of the office methods, procedures and practices of a Court
  • General knowledge of laws contained within the Official Code of Georgia
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable court policies and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Thorough knowledge of office programs and policies
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with court officials, law enforcement officials, attorneys, surveyors, realtors, title examiners, associates and the general public
  • Obtain Georgia Crime Information Center Terminal Operator certification within six months.
  • Possession of Notary Public upon hire.
  • Favorable background history as determined by review of local, State and Federal records.

Responsibilities

  • Greets visitors, citizens and customers; answers telephone; responds to general inquiries related to Court matters or forwards callers/visitors to the appropriate party for disposition
  • Processes delinquency case documentation, including petitions, summonses, motions, complaints, and related filings
  • Enters, scans, uploads, and maintains case information in JCATS
  • Manages and maintains all dependency case files
  • Reviews, files, and scans court orders and distributes orders to appropriate parties in a timely manner
  • Ensures court calendars are accurate and distributed to the appropriate parties
  • Enters and maintains all data related to traffic cases
  • Submits traffic case information to the Department of Driver Services (DDS), GCEPS, and TIPS
  • Serves as Retention Clerk by maintaining records eligible for destruction or transfer to the Records Center in accordance with retention policies
  • Prepares fact sheets for all delinquency and dependency cases
  • Assigns delinquency cases to attorneys and provides all necessary supporting documentation
  • Schedules review hearings for delinquency cases
  • Ensures continued cases receive updated court dates and that all required paperwork is properly served
  • Accepts supervision, traffic, and restitution payments applying those payments to the correct case
  • Schedules Rule Nisi cases involving unpaid supervision fees
  • Cross trains to assist with dependency case processing and related duties
  • Encourages and promotes a culture of excellent service.
