The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) supports State and local government agencies, as well as local non-profit organizations and the citizens of Maryland, by providing facilities management, real estate and surplus property services, as well as security and law enforcement for State buildings. DGS is also responsible for a full spectrum of facilities, engineering, design and construction services, almost $1 billion in annual contract administration, and overseeing the State procurement process. This position serves as the Deputy Chief of Maintenance Engineering for the design, inspection, and repair of systems and utilities related to the maintenance of buildings and grounds. This position manages fund sources (program open space, underground tanks, hazardous material, capital, and operating maintenance budgets). The position also manages personnel and financial resources and develops short- and long-range plans for program operations. Provide management and supervision of the staff responsible for maintenance engineering work, as mandated by the Statewide maintenance and repair program for all State-owned properties. This position is responsible for identifying maintenance deficiencies, prioritizing maintenance projects, managing program open space, hazardous materials facilities renewal, underground tank, using agency appropriations, and emergency projects.
