About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting the Chief of School Police in the administration and operation of the School Police Department. The Deputy Chief will oversee daily operations, manage personnel, develop and implement policies and procedures, and ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and facilities within the school district. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and a commitment to fostering a safe and positive learning environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive law enforcement experience, with at least five (5) years in a supervisory or command role.
Experience in school-based law enforcement or a related field is highly desirable.
Valid Nevada driver's license.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must possess a POST certification or be eligible for immediate certification.
Thorough background investigation, including fingerprinting and a polygraph examination.
Ability to pass a physical examination and psychological evaluation.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in relevant technology and software.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in a related field.
Experience with school safety initiatives and programs.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws pertaining to school safety and law enforcement.

Responsibilities

Assist the Chief of School Police in managing the daily operations of the department.
Supervise, train, and evaluate subordinate personnel.
