Learn more HERE. The Position The successful candidate will be eligible to receive a $15K signing bonus as outline by the County's Hiring Incentive Policy. The list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year. There is currently one (1) regular full-time vacancy. The Ideal Candidate is a strategic, collaborative, and solutions-oriented leader with deep expertise in public sector risk management, workers' compensation, insurance, workplace safety, and leave administration. They are an experienced executive who can navigate complex regulatory environments, build strong partnerships across departments, and confidently advise executive leadership and elected officials on organizational risk, compliance, and operational strategy. The successful candidate is an innovative problem solver who inspires high-performing teams, drives continuous improvement, and is passionate about protecting the County's workforce, assets, and ability to deliver exceptional public service. This is an "at-will" management position.

Requirements

  • At least six (6) years of professional full-time, progressively responsible, experience in risk management that included general liability, property and workers' compensation claims and insurance management for a large and diverse organization.
  • Public sector experience is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's or higher-level degree in public or business administration, accounting, finance, risk management, insurance or a closely related field.
  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
  • Maintain any license, certification, or registration required for this position at all times during employment with Napa County.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Professional Risk Manager (PRM), and an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) are highly desirable.
