About The Position

The Cook County Bureau of Asset Management is seeking a Deputy Bureau Chief, Asset Management, responsible for supporting the development and coordination of asset management strategies, policies, procedures, and administrative functions. It assists in establishing operational protocols, recommending budgets, supervising personnel, and managing day‑to‑day activities. The position also helps oversee major projects and programs, provides direction on key initiatives, and prepares reports or analyses requested by senior leadership to ensure effective and aligned asset management operations. Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher and Five (5) years of experience working in real estate, construction management, business administration, or directly related experience or An equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to conceive and implement new plans, policies, projects, and programs.
• Skilled in project or program management with the ability to monitor and assess the performance of individuals, programs and contracted services.
• Ability to manage a range of functions and provide strategic leadership across multiple areas.
• Knowledge of budgeting procedures and processes.
• Ability to act independently or in collaboration with employees and leaders at all levels and foster team relationships to drive success.
• Ability to exercise independent judgement across multiple functions for highly complex issues to implement strategic solutions.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
• Eight (8) years of experience in real estate, construction management, or business administration.
• Six (6) years of previous management experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and developing effective strategies for the efficient and systematic coordination of all activities pertaining to the formulation and implementation of asset management policies, procedures, projects, and bureau administrative functions.
• Assist in determining and setting policies, protocols, and procedures, as well as recommend budgets, supervise personnel and conduct operations.
• Assist in the overseeing of major projects, programs, initiatives, and provide direction and conduct various reports as requested by senior leadership.
• Assist in ensuring efficient operation among departments and business units within the bureau and recommend organizational administrative changes as needed.
• Assist senior leadership in the development of asset management strategies, policies, projects, programs and objectives.
• Collaborate with managers, supervisors, consultants, contractors, elected officials and external agencies to coordinate County real estate asset management.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of various asset related programs, policies and projects.
• Assist in overseeing the direction of development and implementation of process related to asset management, including property acquisition, facility management, lease options, and capital projects.
• Leverage expertise in business requirements and strategic planning to influence decisions related to real estate management.
• Exercise knowledge of business requirements related to strategic plans and initiatives.
• Supervise department progress, providing direction and technical assistance, and approve reports prepared by department staff.
• Assist with evaluating the budget preparation process for department units providing real estate asset management services and operations.
• Responsible for assigned projects requiring oversight at the senior level, and meets with leadership and officials to monitor various projects, assess progress, and convey information.
• Assist senior leadership with program/project management and overseeing of the bureau/departments and projects and initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
