About The Position

The Delaware Department of Justice, Family Division, Criminal & Delinquency Unit, in New Castle County, seeks a Deputy Attorney General. The Deputy Attorneys General in this Unit are responsible for compiling and producing discovery, drafting motions and briefs, performing research, extending and negotiating plea agreements, and taking matters to trial. This is a Unit with a high volume of cases and several court calendars scheduled per week. The current position we are seeking to fill is primarily responsible for prosecuting juvenile delinquency and truancy cases with the unique opportunity to occasionally handle adult domestic violence cases, including taking any or all of these types of cases to trial.

Requirements

• Knowledge of criminal law and procedure
• Ability to evaluate criminal cases
• Ability to determine resolutions
• Ability to anticipate legal issues
• Ability to research accurately and effectively
• Ability to learn and apply the relevant laws and court rules
• Ability to develop a good working relationship with other Deputy Attorneys General, support staff and Court personnel
• Membership in Delaware Bar required
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States
